Paul and Colleen are grateful for our church body and for standing strong with them as partners, along with the families who send cards and pray for them!
Here are comments and prayer requests they have provided:
We have been serving in DC since March 2005.
Our main aim is "encouraging and equipping emerging servant leaders in the Spirit of Jesus". The name of the ministry project, SERVING DC AND BEYOND, emphasizes our coming alongside urban and international leaders, both here in Washington, D.C., and in numerous foreign countries. Drawing on his background as a missionary kid in Egypt and Africa, Paul focuses on African diplomats here in DC and on African leaders in government, church, and civic organizations on the Continent. Colleen continues to foster relationships with women, especially single moms, to support their life skills and spiritual growth.
Please pray that our support continues to be strong. Many of our long-standing family and partners are getting up in years or have gone on to their eternal rewards. :)
Pray for us to influence the next generation in discipleship through our Prepare-Enrich training for marriage mentors, pastors, and counselors. Also, Servant Leadership training and The Jesus Centered Life disciplining ministry.
Pray for our own family members. That we would all draw near to the Lord. And pray for Open Doors with leaders on Capitol Hill and the Embassies here in DC.
2025 ANNUAL REPORT
Project Name: Serving DC and Beyond/Capitol Coaching
Date: December 17, 2025
Location: Washington, D.C. / Metro Area
Our overarching aim is to be fully responsive to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission by loving God with our all and loving others in ways that develop fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. Being available as Ambassadors of Reconciliation and compelled by the love of Christ (2 Cor. 5:14) we find joy in having a strategic presence in D.C. where urban and international leaders meet and work.
Our mission, to encourage and equip servant leaders in the Spirit of Jesus, involved coming alongside leaders to befriend, mentor, disciple, coach or advise others in following Jesus.
Community Impact:
Participated in a weekly prayer/fellowship group for International Leaders. Visitors included Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Lebanon, Israel, Bermuda, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ukraine, and the U.K. A number of these delegations were advocating for peace and democracy and reported on the prayer breakfast events in their own countries. There are an estimated 140 nations with prayer group activities. In Ukraine alone, they have 35 active, regional/city prayer meetings. We will prepare to host African leaders again for the upcoming National Prayer Breakfast.
Partnering with the leadership of DC Dream Center by mentoring staff, preparing training materials, and doing monthly prayer walks in Ward 7 of D.C. Our son, Brandon, and Pastor Steffen Humbert led the training before we deployed in small team assignments. DCDC celebrated its 7th Anniversary of blessing the city!
Continuing to advise Reath and Rhoda Tang’s project, “Agape South Sudan”. As asylees, they still assist government leaders in their homeland and a refugee project for widows and children. We also advocate for “Love Children Home” for widows and their children in Ethiopia.
We led two premarital groups and coached five other couples. A highlight was a Fall Couples’ Reunion for Prepare alumni. Sixty people attended our dinner event, and dozens of others sent pictures and reports of their whereabouts in the world (many with growing families). While in DC the past 20 years we have worked with about 660 couples.
We are grateful for dedicated public servants and ministers to partner with in the Lord!
